Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Ltd, a sister concern of Panchakanya Group is seeking an experienced and accomplished senior hydropower professional to provide strategic and executive-level leadership.
This is a role designed for a senior professional who can provide effective oversight of the hydropower business without the requirement of being stationed full-time at the project office.
The selected individual will be responsible for reviewing overall business and plant performance, providing strategic direction, ensuring accountability of the responsible teams, identifying key risks and opportunities, and advising senior management/Board on critical operational, financial, regulatory and commercial matters.
Key Responsibilities
Provide senior-level executive oversight of hydropower operations, plant performance and overall business activities.
Periodically review operational performance, generation, availability, efficiency, maintenance and major technical issues.
Review and monitor annual operational plans, budgets, maintenance plans and key performance indicators.
Ensure appropriate attention to regulatory, statutory, environmental, safety and compliance requirements.
Provide oversight on financial and commercial matters, including major expenditures, contracts, procurement and cost-control initiatives.
Review major maintenance, rehabilitation, repair and improvement requirements and provide strategic recommendations.
Ensure effective governance, internal controls, reporting systems and accountability within the Hydropower Division.
Coordinate and maintain appropriate relationships with NEA, government authorities, regulators, consultants, contractors, lenders and other key stakeholders.
Review major contractual, commercial and technical matters and advise management on appropriate actions.
Identify potential operational, financial, regulatory and business risks and recommend mitigation measures.
Monitor the performance of the responsible management/team and ensure timely follow-up on agreed actions.
Escalate significant operational, financial, compliance and strategic matters to Senior Management / Board in a timely manner.
Provide guidance and mentorship to the existing management and technical team.
Support management in strategic decisions related to the future growth, sustainability and optimization of the hydropower business.
Undertake periodic visits to the project/plant site and conduct management reviews as required.
Perform other strategic responsibilities assigned by Senior Management / Board.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a seasoned hydropower executive with strong industry experience and demonstrated leadership capability.
The ideal candidate may be a:
Former or current CEO / Managing Director of a hydropower company
Senior Hydropower Project Director / Project Head
Experienced Plant Head / General Manager – Hydropower
Senior professional with extensive experience in hydropower operations, project management and business management
Former senior executive with strong understanding of Nepal's hydropower sector and regulatory environment
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Management, Finance, or a relevant discipline. A technical/engineering background in hydropower will be an advantage.
15+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably with significant experience in the hydropower sector.
Proven experience in a senior leadership position within a hydropower company, project or plant.
Strong understanding of hydropower operations, maintenance, project management and commercial aspects.
Good knowledge of NEA processes, government regulations, licensing, statutory compliance and other relevant requirements.
Experience in dealing with government authorities, NEA, consultants, contractors, financial institutions and other stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to review complex operational and business matters and provide practical recommendations to senior management/Board.
Strong understanding of financial, commercial and contractual matters related to hydropower projects.
Strong leadership, governance, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
